Endometriosis Treatment Consultations
Comprehensive diagnostics and surgical care at Nieborowice Hospital Endometriosis Treatment Consultations at Nieborowice Hospital provide thorough assessment, imaging and treatment planning — including access to surgical treatment of endometriosis and the full scope of operative gynaecology when indicated.
Endometriosis Treatment Consultations at Nieborowice Hospital are designed for patients with suspected or confirmed endometriosis, adenomyosis, chronic pelvic pain, painful periods, pain during intercourse, and gastrointestinal or urinary symptoms that may be related to endometriosis. The goal of the consultation is to obtain a clear clinical picture, perform an appropriate examination and imaging, and propose a structured diagnostic and treatment pathway.
The consultation lasts 45–60 minutes, allowing time for a detailed history, examination and discussion. The visit may include:
-
a detailed medical history,
-
speculum examination,
-
bimanual pelvic examination (palpation),
-
transvaginal ultrasound,
-
assessment for uterine adenomyosis,
-
assessment of the ovaries,
-
assessment of the rectovaginal space,
-
assessment of the uterosacral ligaments,
-
assessment of the bladder and ureters,
-
assessment of the kidneys,
-
rectal examination (when clinically indicated),
-
and, when appropriate: abdominal sonography and/or high-frequency ultrasound.
After the examination, the findings are explained in detail and the next steps are discussed. Treatment options are presented clearly, including pharmacological, symptom-focused, and surgical approaches — selected individually based on clinical findings, symptom severity, and the patient’s needs and priorities.
Importantly, the care pathway at Nieborowice Hospital includes access to operative treatment. Maciej Mierzwiński, MD, performs surgical treatment of endometriosis and also carries out other gynaecological procedures using laparoscopic, vaginal and combined vaginal–laparoscopic (laparoscopy-assisted) techniques, as well as hysteroscopy. At Nieborowice Hospital we offer the full scope of operative gynaecology. Procedures are performed under general anaesthesia, in an operating theatre setting, by an experienced specialist team.
For non-oncological gynaecological conditions, we primarily use minimally invasive techniques, including laparoscopy and hysteroscopy. This approach may help reduce hospital stay and support a faster return to everyday functioning (depending on the type of procedure and individual recovery). Every procedure is preceded by careful diagnostics and individual qualification for surgery. We ensure that the entire process — from consultation and preparation through surgery to post-operative care — is transparent and focused on patient safety.
Examples of procedures performed at Nieborowice Hospital include:
-
laparoscopic procedures (e.g., pectopexy, Dubuisson procedure, total laparoscopic hysterectomy — TLH),
-
vaginal procedures (e.g., vaginal hysterectomy),
-
laparoscopy-assisted vaginal procedures (e.g., laparoscopy-assisted vaginal hysterectomy — LAVH),
-
hysteroscopy (as clinically indicated).
In more complex or atypical presentations, additional investigations may be recommended (e.g., pelvic MRI, colonoscopy or cystoscopy), depending on the suspected location of lesions. It is also important to note that laparoscopy remains the method that can confirm endometriosis definitively, and in appropriately selected cases it may allow both diagnosis and surgical treatment during the same procedure. Tissue samples may be taken for histopathological examination to support diagnostic confirmation.
