Since 2013, he has also practiced pediatric surgery—operating on young patients with tumors of the head, neck, and extremities, together with reconstruction of defects.
Research and international activity:
Prof. Krakowczyk is the author and co-author of numerous scientific publications devoted to oncologic and reconstructive surgery. He regularly participates in international congresses and training programs, co-creating new standards for cancer care and microsurgical methods. He is active in Polish and international scientific societies, supporting the development of innovative surgical techniques and the education of future generations of surgeons.

Scholarly output and experience:
Prof. Krakowczyk is the author and co-author of over 140 scientific publications covering:
microsurgery and reconstruction of tissues after oncologic treatment,
treatment of skin cancers and head and neck cancers,
issues related to face transplantation.
He co-created the first life-saving face transplant in Poland and took part in subsequent groundbreaking reconstructive operations. He developed his expertise at prestigious centers worldwide, including MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
Key milestones:
2007 – Internship at the Department of Plastic Surgery, MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston; active refinement of reconstructive techniques under Prof. G. Robb, D. Chang, and P. Yu.
2009 – Microsurgery training course in Glasgow with a skills certificate.
2010 – Active co-founder of the Section of Reconstructive Surgery within the Association of Polish Surgeons; served as the Section’s secretary from its inception.
2015 – Assumed the position of Chair of the Section of Reconstructive Surgery within the Association of Polish Surgeons.
Co-organizer and lecturer of the CMKP (Centre of Postgraduate Medical Education) course “Basics of Reconstructive Surgery and Microsurgery.”

2004 – Began doctoral studies at the Zabrze Faculty of the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice.
2008 – Doctor of Medical Sciences (MD/PhD equivalent), Medical University of Silesia in Katowice, Faculty of Medicine in Zabrze. Doctoral dissertation: “Frequency of CpG island methylation in the promoter region of selected genes in tumor tissue and in the healthy tissue margin in colorectal adenocarcinomas.”
2012 – Board certification in General Surgery.
2014 – Board certification in Oncologic Surgery.
2016 – Habilitation (DSc) in medicine. Habilitation thesis: “Application of innovative reconstructive surgery techniques after resection of head and neck tumors and after face transplantation.”

2013 – Silver Cross of Merit awarded by the President of the Republic of Poland for participation in an innovative face transplantation procedure.

2016 – Prof. Marek Sych Award, granted by the Jagiellonian University in Kraków and the Kraków Chamber of Physicians.
